LEIGHTON HALL, the home of the Gillow
furniture making family, contains fine examples of early Gillow
work, notable paintings and an interesting collection of English and French
clocks. Guided tours are available and may be followed by a visit to
the tea-rooms before taking in the spectacular sight of the eagles flying.
It is currently home to the largest collection of trained birds of prey in the
North of England. Holker Hall at Cark in Cartmel, the former home of the Duke
of Devonshire offers visitors the opportunity to explore the Hall, with its
historic paintings and unusual furniture. The gardens boast many and unusual
shrubs and trees. Special events are held on many weekends,a day out for all
the family.

SETTLE

Main tourist area. Very busy throughout the year. Car parking difficult

KIRKBY LONSDALE
Quaint Lakeland Market Town.
Very nice Shops, Pubs and Cafe's.
Victorian Weekend - first weekend in September every year is very popular.
Car Parking can be difficult in the town centre but you can usually park at
Devils Bridge which is only a short walk away from the Town Centre,especially
via the scenic river route which takes you through the old churchyard.
